Russell

He was dumped at a dump site in New Mexico, where many dogs are left. Russell is his name, but he won’t respond to it when he’s called.  In fact, he won’t respond to anything unless he can see you. Russell is deaf. Maybe that’s why he was dumped, left alone without food or water, or company. He is our first deaf heeler, and I am trying to learn sign language at the same time I am teaching it to Russell. It is a great experience for the both of us. As soon as Russell and I know how to communicate with each other and he has received some additional training, he will be available. He is 2 years old, potty trained with a doggy door, loves riding in the truck but still doesn’t understand why he needs a leash and harness all the time. But for his own safety, he always needs a leash since he can’t hear cars approaching or any other danger. He is a very handsome dog with a huge heart!
